OFFICIAL TRIPS

The Speaker of the Congress of Deputies, by reason of his post, agenda or on an invitation, leads during the Legislative Term several official Trips.

Apart from the Conference of Speakers of EU Parliaments and of the European Parliament, and the Latin American Parliamentary Forum, which, given its relevance, deserve an independent section, there are the following regular conferences.

EUROPEAN CONFERENCE OF PRESIDENTS OF PARLIAMENT

This Conference takes place every two years, and the venue of its meetings alternates between Strasbourg and a capital of a Council of Europe member state. The Conference is composed of the Speakers and Presidents of parliaments of the member States of the Council of Europe, as well as of the Presidents of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the European Parliament.

The last Conference took place in Strasbourg on September 20th and 21st, 2012.

OTHER FORA AND CONFERENCES

-                     World Conference of Speakers of Parliament . The World Conference of Speakers of Parliament gathers all Speakers of Parliaments under the auspices of the Interparliamentary Union (IPU). To date, three meetings have been held, the first two at New York, in 2000 and 2005, and the third in 2010 in Geneva.

-                     G20 Speakers Consultation. The first meeting of this forum took place in Ottawa in September 2010, as an extension of the G20 Summit to discuss world affairs at parliamentary level, the second in Seoul in May 2011, and the third in Riyadh in February 2012.

INTERNATIONAL PARLIAMENTARY MEETINGS TO WHICH THE CONGRESS OF DEPUTIES IS INVITED

All throughout the legislative term, the Congress of Deputies receives invitations to take part in several international parliamentary meetings. Such invitations are normally addressed to the Speaker of the Congress of Deputies.
